Our Story

Every law firm has a founding story. Ours begins in 1987 with a second-generation advocate, a deep conviction in the rule of law and the courage to walk into a courtroom and fight for client's rights.

Mr. Mahesh Chopra enrolled as an advocate in 1987 and built his practice on the strength of preparation, perseverance and an unshakeable commitment towards every client's cause. Over the years that followed, he developed a reputation for detailed research, precise and strong drafting skills, comprehensive arguments and an unwavering commitment to the highest standards of legal practice. His practice grew across civil litigation, criminal law, constitutional matters, property disputes, banking law and service law establishing a presence before various Hon'ble Courts that spans nearly four decades.

What Mr. Mahesh Chopra built was not simply a legal practice. It was a body of trust accumulated over years of representing individuals, families, institutions and organisations at some of the most difficult and consequential moments of their lives. That trust is the foundation on which Chopra and Associates stands today.

Mr. Kartikey Chopra brings to the firm the rigour of contemporary legal education combined with the instincts and values instilled by growing up alongside one of the region's most respected advocates. He has taken on the active conduct of the firm's litigation before the Supreme Court of India, Hon'ble High Courts & various Tribunals, driving matters forward with the energy, dedication and singular focus of securing genuine relief for clients. From strategy to court appearances to seeing a matter through to its conclusion, Mr. Kartikey Chopra is deeply and personally invested in every case the firm undertakes while carrying forward the foundation which four decades of individual advocacy has created, while shaping it into a firm equipped to serve a broader range of clients with the same commitment to excellence and integrity that has always defined the Chopra name.

Together, Mr. Mahesh Chopra and Mr. Kartikey Chopra represent something relatively rare in Indian legal practice, a genuine passing of the baton across generations, where the founder's experience and the next generation's energy combine to create something stronger than either could build alone.

Mr. Kartikey Chopra combines formal legal training with the advantage of having been mentored by one of the region's most experienced advocates. He independently handles litigation before the Supreme Court of India, Hon'ble High Courts, right from strategy to drafting to appearance simultaneously bringing contemporary legal research capabilities, command over the new criminal laws (the BNS, BNSS and BSA) and a thorough, hands-on approach to every matter he undertakes on behalf of the firm's clients.

Chopra and Associates was founded on concept of transparency in advocacy. We tell clients the truth about their cases including when the truth is difficult. We do not take on cases we cannot handle with full commitment. We do not make promises we cannot keep. This has been the firm's governing principle since 1987 and it will remain so.
